After appearances on The Arsenio Hall Show and hosting several HBO latino comedy programs, Mencia had made a place for himself in the comedy world and Comedy Central took notice. In 2005, Mencia signed for his own comedy series, Mind of Mencia, which helped him earn 2nd place of the Top 25 stand-up comics in Comedy Central's 2006 "Stand Up Showdown."
