The Lovers & Friends Festival, scheduled to kick off its third year at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on Saturday, May 4, has been canceled due to dangerous winds predicted to last through the weekend, causing possible power outages.

According to a statement from the festival's website: “Lovers & Friends Festival organizers have been monitoring the weather for several days and proactively preparing for a windy Saturday. However, the National Weather Service has now issued a High Wind Warning, including dangerous 30-35 mph sustained winds with gusts potentially more than 60 mph.  Following advice from the National Weather Service and in consultation with local public officials, we must make the safest decision for our fans, artists, and staff, and cancel tomorrow’s Lovers & Friends Festival.

“This was an incredibly heartbreaking decision to make as we are aware that fans have traveled from all over the world to enjoy this incredible lineup of superstars and have been looking forward to this event for several months,” it continues. “We’ve worked hard to create an amazing event for you, and we are just as disappointed as you are.”

Festival organizers assured ticket holders who purchased directly from Front Gate Tickets will receive refunds within 30 days.

This is the second time a nostalgic fest at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds has been canceled. In 2022, wind scrapped Day 1 of the inaugural When We Were Young festival, displacing thousands of emo and pop-punk fans. But in a step up from our community, local bars and venues opened their doors to acts looking to play side shows. So, who's to say this time won't be a similar situation? We'll keep our eyes peeled for any pop-up shows (and update this story accordingly).

As of now, Resorts World is still hosting Lovers & Friends legend Snoop Dogg at Ayu Dayclub at 1 p.m. on Saturday for a special DJ set.

Janet Jackson, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Mary J. Blige, Usher, Backstreet Boys, Snoop Dogg, Nas, Ciara, Ludacris and many others were scheduled to perform at Lovers & Friends.
