  • Television: Seinfeld

It’s hard to overstate the impact Seinfeld made on pop culture and the sitcom genre during its nine-year run. Watching the series today, 30 years after its debut, is to fall in love again with characters who may not be particularly likable but are endlessly interesting in their peculiarities. A show purportedly about nothing is actually about many things, and the things that Jerry, Elaine, George and Kramer get into make for the kind of escapist, comforting entertainment we all could use right now. Be the master of your quarantine and binge-watch all 180 episodes. Hulu. –Genevie Durano

  • Podcast: The Left Right Game

Westworld and Thor actress Tessa Thompson stars in this creepy fictional podcast, which originated on Reddit and is now being adapted into a television series by Amazon. Thompson plays an intrepid radio journalist who follows a motley team of paranormal investigators into the terrifying unknown. A compelling storyline, stellar sound quality and talented ensemble cast will keep you listening. New episodes are released weekly through the end of May. qcodemedia.com/theleftrightgame. –C. • Television: Tacoma FD

For a movie constructed largely of juvenilia, the 2002 police comedy Super Troopers casts a long shadow. Few movie comedies since have matched its laughs-to-duds ratio; even subsequent films by Broken Lizard, the comedy troupe that created Troopers, fell short. (Though Beerfest ain’t half-bad.) Now, the troupe’s Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme bring the formula to TruTV in the form of a bored, irreverent fire department—and it’s frigging hilarious. Season 1 on Hulu; Season 2 now playing on TruTV. –Geoff Carter

  • Television: Lost

When ABC’s sci-fi/survival/mystery drama Lost wrapped in 2010 after six seasons, it seemed to instantly morph, from one of the most talked-about, revolutionary series on network television into a cautionary tale—how not to leave loose ends dangling, how not to end a series, how not to let down a legion of fans. But rewatching it a decade later—understanding that every last thread might not pay off (ahem, Walt)—one can better focus on the fascinating plotlines that ran through it, the full-bodied characters that gave it life and the magnificent location that made it feel so real—without always wondering what surprise reveal might lurk around the next corner. • Music: Fiona Apple: Fetch the Bolt Cutters

When Fiona Apple sings “Fetch the bolt cutters, I’ve been in here too long” on her new album’s title track, it’s as if she’s speaking to all of us, right now, at this very moment. Whether talking about the stifling anxiety of quarantine, oppressive mechanisms of the patriarchy or abusive relationships, Apple has always found the perfect words to speak, shout and howl from the rooftops. Whatever bolts from which you’re hoping to break free, Apple’s first album in eight years will surely help. –Leslie Ventura
