  • Podcast: Daily Medication Podcast

The benefits of meditation are many, and there’s solid scientific evidence to back it up. The practice, which has been around for thousands of years, can help bring a sense of calm, peace and balance, according to the Mayo Clinic’s website. Curious but don’t know where to start? Check out the Daily Meditation Podcast, hosted by Mary Meckley. Ten minutes of guided meditation might just be the intro you need, and in these stressful times, every little bit helps. • TV: The Goop Lab

Gwyneth Paltrow might deserve eye rolls for selling vagina-scented candles and suggesting women steam their nether regions, but the actress and CEO of the Goop lifestyle brand is onto something with her 2020 The Goop Lab Netflix series, which dives into holistic and new age-y wellness topics like energy work, cold water exposure therapy and psychedelics. Whether you’re on Team Gwyneth or not, the Goop Lab’s thoughtful look at the opportunities and limitations of alternative medicine are worth a look. Netflix. –Leslie Ventura

  • Exhibit: Dreams and Pareidolias

The Winchester-Dondero Cultural Center’s gallery reopens with a show featuring work by Rigoberto Cardenas. The 50-plus pieces by the self-taught artist and poet cover a range of subjects, styles and media, including gesso, pen & ink and even ketchup and barbecue sauce. It’s the first exhibition for Cardenas, who says his art is inspired by dreams and imagination. “I like to put a lot of color and lines [in my work]. I invite people to explore [them].” November 3-December 15. Opening reception November 5, 3 p.m., by appointment only (702-455-7340). –C. Moon Reed

  • TV: Supermarket Sweep

Three teams play for cash prizes in a fake supermarket. They answer product-related questions, then don colorful sweatshirts and charge through the aisles, loading up on high-cost items. This formula worked for the early 1990s-era Supermarket Sweep game show, now streaming on Netflix, and the ABC remake keeps it intact. Sure, they’ve raised the cash prizes, upped the production value (better sweatshirts!) and wisely tapped Saturday Night Live’s boundlessly energetic Leslie Jones to host, but it’s the same goofy, good fun. ABC, 8 p.m. Sunday. –Geoff Carter

  • Music: Gunn-Truscinski Duo: Soundkeeper

Since 2000, North Carolinian Cory Rayborn has been expertly documenting the American psychedelic scene on his home-based Three Lobed Recordings imprint, serving up treats from the likes of Bardo Pond, Jack Rose, Tom Carter and MV & EE. Fittingly, Three Lobed has kicked off a 20th anniversary album series—set to feature releases from Sonic Youth, Six Organs of Admittance and more—with the fourth LP from one of its core artists, Gunn-Truscinski Duo. And the blissful Soundkeeper stands among the label’s very best. A decade into their recording partnership, guitarist Steve Gunn and drummer John Truscinski hypnotically work as one, soaking each droning, folk-rooted instrumental in mystery, melody and anticipation for the next leg of the journey.
