Forget daubing blue-hairs; this bingo hall is packed with hipsters

Underground Rebel Bingo Club
Next event November 20, 10:30 p.m., free, 18+
Las Vegas Hilton's Shimmer Cabaret, 732-5111

They call it Underground Rebel Bingo Club, but it’s listed on the marquee at the Las Vegas Hilton as we drive up Friday night. Underground? Not with letters that big. Inside, however, the scene looks less like conventional casino fare and more like a group of hipsters who got lost on the way to a Coney Island costume party ... and ended up holding washable markers and movie-ticket-size bingo cards. The markers immediately find a use—giving temporary tattoos of a decidedly obscene nature. It’s all giggles and penis jokes here at the Hilton’s Shimmer Cabaret. And bingo, of course. When the URBC crew takes the stage, the jokes only get raunchier. Emcee James Flames screams something about anarchy, but we’re here for the prizes—a stuffed panda (“My! Best! Friend!”), an inflatable sumo fat suit and an iPod speaker on wheels, among others. It’s all fun, games and hypersexualized rhyming in British accents, which means even if you don’t get to scream “BINGO!,” you still go home feeling pretty damn good.
