Grab your caps and knickers, ladies and gents—Golf Fest is here. The two-day exhibition show begins Saturday at the Arnold Palmer-designed Angel Park Golf Club. Aside from golf lessons, vendors and exhibits, the festival is bringing flair and excitement to the green with trick-shot performer Craig Hocknull.
The lifelong golfer and Australian PGA pro says he discovered his knack for trick shots early on.
“I had a bit of a talent as a kid for entertaining my friends,” Hocknull says. “I would use a golf club and a golf ball to do that a lot of times. I decided later I could make a career out of it.”
And so he has. While performing his Outback Golf Show across the globe, he is training to make the wider PGA Tour. And Hocknull says he’s not just playing, he’s observing his fellow sportsmen for inspiration for his trick shots.
“I’ve been a player my entire life, and I’ve been teaching golf as well. You understand the challenges that a golfer has, and a lot of challenges are related to equipment,” Hocknull says, adding, “a lot of my tricks are actually designed around making fun of people’s desire to have exactly perfect-hitting golf equipment.”

These tricks include, but are not limited to, hitting both left-handed and right-handed and striking balls while on his knees. And it gets even wilder … Hocknull’s craziest trick involves attempting to knock a boomerang out of the air with his ball. “Like skeet shooting, I’ll try to hit it as it’s flying,” Hocknull says.
You can catch this golf phenom twice daily at Golf Fest, at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults and free for children 10 and younger. Attend to be entertained, or to pick up some tricks of your own to show off. Just remember to stay on your toes and listen for this: “FORE!”
