February is here, bringing with it excesses of candy hearts, roses and teddy bears. First Friday, too, jumps on the Valentine’s Day bandwagon this month, asking festivalgoers to tell stories of their first loves for a video project called the First Love Confession Caboose. The project will set up in the train car behind the Gypsy Den and is part of the festival’s February theme: First Love.

“Every month we’re trying to come up with some sort of a concept or a theme to do … and give people something to get excited about and get involved,” explains Joey Vanas, managing partner of First Friday Las Vegas.

First Friday is offering up some extra incentives to participate: every confessor receives a rose for his or her significant other and a shot at local Internet fame—participants’ confessions will be edited and produced into a video to be posted on First Friday’s website, firstfridaylasvegas.com. Vanas says participants can also get photos of their confessional experiences.

“I think it’s extremely important for the city as a whole to get involved, and this is just one fun way to do that,” Vanas says. “People like to remember their experiences.”
