Real Housewife NeNe Leakes is Cirque’s first celeb guest star

The reality TV star adds ‘Mistress of Sensuality’ to her resume

From Real Housewives of Atlanta to Cirque du Soleil: NeNe Leakes will bring her sass to Zumanity for a limited run this summer.

She’s been called fake, a drag queen, a hypocrite and a moose(?), but now Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes can add a new title to the list: “Mistress of Sensuality.”

Yup. For the first time ever, Cirque du Soleil is integrating a celebrity guest into one of the company’s shows, and they’ve chosen Housewife, author and former stripper Ms. Leakes to do the honors. For a very limited run (June 27-July 1, shows at 7:30 and 10 p.m.), Leakes will be assuming the role of Zumanity emcee, guiding the audience through the circus of seduction in a custom costume and makeup look.

How Leakes’ outsize personality and knack for infuriating her fellow Housewives (she is famous for causing drama, after all) will translate to the Cirque stage is anybody’s guess, and filling regular mistress of ceremonies Edie’s shoes (and wig) is a mighty task. But of all Cirque’s Vegas shows, Zumanity is the most ripe for celebrity cameos. Perhaps the casting directors should consider reaching out to these sexy stars the next time Edie needs a night off:

Neil Patrick Harris

NPH loves Vegas, has plenty of acting chops and is currently in previews for a starring role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway. In other words, the man can rock heels and a wig like nobody’s business. Book him immediately.

Dita Von Teese

Try thinking of a single living performer who oozes sex quite as much as this burlesque diva, then accept that you can’t and realize how great she’d be setting the tone for Zu’s sensual 90-minute romp.

Jennifer Lopez

The booty. The voice. The ability to look frustratingly gorgeous wearing things that can barely even be defined as clothes. It’s time Jenny from the Block gets back to her New York roots, in Vegas of course.
