The Social Network’ on the social network

The Weekly turned to Facebook to take the public’s temperature on David Fincher’s new film, The Social Network.

38,279 have “liked” The Social Network’s Facebook page, which sounds like a lot until you notice that 783,045 people “like” Mark Zuckerberg. Advantage: Zuckerberg.

We learned on Facebook that a free, five-song sampler of The Social Network’s soundtrack—scored by Trent Reznor and frequent Nine Inch Nails producer Atticus Ross—can be downloaded at

Facebook post: “So last weekend after like 8 reviews, The Social Network was at 100% [on Rotten Tomatoes] and I was like ‘Oh cool, maybe it’ll be good.’ So I check again and after 49 reviews it’s STILL at 100% and I’m all like WTF.”

The real question: Will Mark Zuckerberg see The Social Network? The query was posted on Facebook, and staff engineer Steven Grimm chimed in: “If I were him I’d wait for it on DVD. I wouldn’t want to sit in a theater with a bunch of strangers watching a two-hour-long character assassination of myself, pretending not to notice them staring at me trying to figure out if I’m really the jerk they’re watching on the screen.”
