Handicapping the Golden Globes

Because fancy dresses and drunken celebs are more fun when you put a little money on the line

Do you want to win? Than bet on us. Idiot.

Just because this is a gambling town and—face it—awards shows are pretty boring even when you have a host as funny as cheeky Brit Office-creator Ricky Gervais, we’d like to present the odds for the 68th Golden Globe Awards held tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Wynn Director of Race and Sports Operations Johnny Avello handicapped the races in 12 film categories, including best drama, best actor or actress in a drama, the corresponding categories for comedy films, best director and best animated feature. Which means you can safely put a fiver down on Colin Firth in The King’s Speech at 1 to 4 or bet your kid’s college funds on The Social Network to take best drama at 6 to 5. (Or, if you like living on the edge, go ahead and put a dime on anything that’s not Toy Story 3 as best animated film. On second thought, don’t. You want to win, right?)

While you’re at it, put some money behind Jane Lynch to win best supporting actress in a series, mini-series or made-for-TV movie for her performance on Glee. Even without years of handicapping experience and a fancy title at a fancy Strip resort, we know she’s a lock. And we can’t wait to hear her acceptance speech. Is it too much to hope it’s choreographed and set to a Britney Spears song?
