Bike your way through the First Friday festival grounds

The Tour De Art route will highlight Arts District hot spots as well as the RTC Bike Center.

The weather report suggests Friday will be a sunny, mid-90-degree day. What better way to experience our city’s monthly art celebration than by biking through the festival grounds?

And you won’t be pedaling alone this month—the Regional Transportation Commission and Green Scene Productions have teamed up to present their Tour De Art Ride this Friday night.

“We want to show how easy it is to ride bikes Downtown,” says Heather Abel of Green Scene, adding that the event will highlight the RTC Bike Center, a cycling facility that opened last October, complete with showers, lockers and a full bike shop for repairs.

Calendar

Tour De Art Bike Ride
May 6, 6 p.m., free
RTC Parking Lot
600 S. Grand Central Pkwy.
Interested cyclists RSVP to 813-1435

In true Vegas fashion a complimentary bike valet is planned, as well as free drinks and giveaways. Every participant at the biker bash will be entered to win a cycling vacation valued at $500, and although helmets aren’t required Downtown, bikers who bedazzle theirs will be entered to win more prizes in the event’s craziest helmet contest.

The tour’s route will also feature various Downtown hangouts and numerous Arts District destinations. “We’re combining reliable alternative transportation and culture all in one fabulous night,” gushes Abel. “And … it’s free!”
