Beyoncé at MGM Grand, Take 2

Image
Beyoncé’s back at MGM Grand for the second time this year, on December 6.

The reign of Queen B continues this weekend, bringing more pyrotechnics and costume changes than you can shake a stick at for round two of her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour. Her initial stop in June at the MGM Grand Garden Arena kept the crowd’s head on a swivel as she tore through more than two dozen hits while performing feats including, but not limited to, jumping off a grand piano onto a zipline and soaring across the arena.

From interactive LED screens to dazzling couture to Cirque-worthy choreography, the tour manages to roll the best of Vegas entertainment into a single performance. But the show is more than just spectacle, as Bey’s soaring vocals and killer all-female backup band proclaim that she’s first and foremost a musical force to be reckoned with.

Whether she’s writhing across the stage, strutting in a freakum dress or adjusting her crown in one of the many fashion editorial-esque videos played between songs, every element in one of the year’s best pop shows serves as a worthy reminder: “That’s Queen Carter, to you.”

Beyoncé December 6, 8 p.m., $53-$253. MGM Grand Garden Arena, 891-7777.
