It’s official, 2014 has been the year of Alice in Wonderland. Just take a look at the bevy of Alice-themed events that have come through town this year. We had ARTrageous Vegas’ Artists in Wonderland, Frist Friday’s Alice in Wonderland art competition and Alice Down the Rabbit Hole at the Smith Center. But if you still haven’t had enough Cheshire Cat or hookah-smoking Caterpillar, you’re in luck. The adventurous blonde gets a guitar-wielding, big-hair-touting makeover when Alice: A Steampunk Rock Opera Fantasy rolls into Vinyl on Wednesday, October 29.
Produced by local production company BBR Las Vegas, this Alice tells the classic story through Victorian steampunk goggles, with fierce routines and cover versions of songs by The Doors, The Beatles and Lady Gaga. Stacked with industrial-inspired makeup and elaborate costumes, singers Anne Martinez and Savannah Smith bring the classic story to life as a nine-piece band and troupe of choreographed dancers take Vegas down the rabbit hole once again.
Alice: A Steampunk Rock Opera Fantasy October 29, 10 p.m., $30. Vinyl, 702-693-5583.
