He’s the Dog, the big bad Dog… THE Bounty Hunter

Our Q&A last week with Al the Bounty Hunter got quite a few people talking. Including the King of All Bounty Hunters himself, Duane “Dog” Chapman, who called us from Colorado to tell us he loved the Q&A—except the part where Al says Dog’s A&E reality series is “not accurate” because Dog isn’t armed. “My stuff is 100 percent real,” Dog says, adding, “If you have a gun and the other guy has a gun and he draws first, you’re still dead.” He says he appreciates states that don’t allow bounty hunters to carry weapons. “I believe the only ones who should carry lethal weapons are cops.” His wife, Beth, acknowledges that her husband cannot carry a firearm because of a felony charge 35 years ago, but says her crew chooses not to be armed. “As a bondsman for 20 years, I would not hire someone who carries a gun.” As to the show’s accuracy, Beth reminds us that Dog has 30 years of experience as a bounty hunter, adding: “We’re not Jon and Kate Plus 8. This is a real, real show.”
