Everyone’s had their shot at Harry Reid over his comments about Obama in 2008, specifically that he could be elected president because he’s “light-skinned.” But we find it interesting that one group in particular hasn’t come forward to complain: white people. Clearly, Harry had white America in mind when making that statement, which, when you think about it, is pretty damn insulting. Are Caucasians really that shallow, that racially blinkered, that they won’t accept anything but a light-skinned candidate? Do politicians, as a rule, discuss how the sheeplike whities are going to vote, based on factors other than, you know, the pressing issues of the day? Unfortunately, the answer to both questions is a big fat yes, and likely won’t change until we have a better dialogue on race than we do now.
