What happens with ‘What happens here …’ depends on you

You can vote the LVCVA’s famed slogan onto Madison Avenue

Sure it looks nice and friendly, but this slogan is one of LVCVA’s competitors for the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame

When you see “What happens at the cabin, stays at the cabin” in a small Minnesota northern town you know that the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority’s award-winning slogan from 2004 really held up. Exposure “up north” isn’t normally a barometer for the success of internationally catchy Vegas slogans, but New York’s Madison Avenue is a completely different story. So when “What happens here, stays here,” created by R&R Partners, was announced this week as one of 20 slogans vying for a spot on the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame, we knew the promise of an unleashed Vegas experience without repercussion had made the big time.

But the competition is fierce: Other nominees include Folgers’ sentimental “The best part of waking up is Folgers in your cup,” American Express’ practical “Don’t leave home without it” and Capital One’s aggressively prying “What’s in your wallet.”

The online vote for inductees is open to the public at buzzfeed.com/adwalkoffame. Voters have until September 30 to click for their favorite. Winning slogans will be inducted during Advertising Week (October 3-7) and live in perpetuity on the stretch of road between 42nd and 50th streets, joining slogans already in place, like “Where’s the beef?” and “Can you hear me now? Good.”
