No sooner had Las Vegas baseball phenom Bryce Harper coined one of the year’s more memorable quotes (“That’s a clown question, bro” while answering a reporter asking if he would drink in Canada, where the legal age is lower) than a Denver beer company announced it will have “Clown Question, Bro” Canadian lager available when Harper’s Nationals face the Rockies later this month.

Above and beyond
It’s the most unimaginable of tragedies: Last Friday, two parents escaped a burning mobile home in North Las Vegas only to see their three children perish in the fire. In addition to our condolences to the grieving family, we’d like to give a special shout-out to the anonymous donor who contacted the American Red Cross and offered to pay for the funerals of all three children. Part of healing is knowing you’re part of a community, and we’re certainly grateful to be a part of this one.

Sleep of the unjust
An employee at Las Vegas Athletic Club was apparently fired when she fell asleep during her shift, and the Nevada Supreme Court said earlier this week that her behavior “demonstrated disregard for her employer’s interests and her duties as an employee,” thus denying her unemployment. Two things: 1. This sets a dangerous precedent. Compared to some of the other horror stories we’ve heard, sleeping on the job sounds like a pretty mild offense. 2. Too bad we can’t fire all those politicians who fall asleep during legislative sessions.
