The LDS church took a stance against its proxy baptisms of Jewish Holocaust victims this month, but not before the reactionary website, alldeadmormonsarenowgay.com, gained thousands of Facebook followers. The site, which (respectfully) notes that Holocaust victims are not eligible for conversion, allows Internet users to convert deceased members of the LDS church to homosexuality simply by typing a name into the box and clicking the bright orange “convert” button. Visitors can also click the “choose-a-Mormon” box, which searches a genealogical index and provides a name for you. Why? As the site explains: “Sadly, many Mormons throughout history have died without having known the joys of homosexuality.” Offensive and disrespectful? Yes. Sound familiar?
