As We See It

We drank hand sanitizer—so you don’t have to

Kids these days…

Apparently, teenagers have given up on fake IDs and robbing their parents’ liquor cabinets. The media was abuzz this week with reports of the newest trend in underage intoxication: hand sanitizer.

That’s right—forget about those controversial bath salts and the unintended usage of permanent markers. The antiseptic is readily available to minors and costs less than a value meal at McDonald’s.

As certain varieties of sanitizers contain around 60 percent ethyl alcohol, the germaphobe must-have has about the same potency as most standard spirits. With that in mind, we thought it would be fun to mix up a few creative cocktails using the stuff. But really, don’t try these at home ... ever.

The Dirty Sani-tini

Brine meets bitterness with this concoction made from equal parts sanitizer and olive juice. One word to describe it? Awful.

The Screw-Tizer

A take on the classic Screwdriver. Mix your favorite orange juice with a squirt of sanitizer. Orange juice cuts most of the liquor quite well, but this pairing is certain to leave you with the aftertaste of vomit.

Sanitizer & Soda

Everyone’s had a vodka-soda before, right? Well, think of it like this: Bottom-shelf vodka never tasted better.
