First the bad news: 2013 could be the year of less bacon. According to the USDA, the recent drought and subsequently higher feed costs “will all but certainly” have an effect on U.S. pork production. In other words, there’ll be less pig in our lives. And less pig probably means less of the crispy, salty, fatty strips that we like on our burgers, in our Bloody Marys and wrapped around our hot dogs. In fact, the USDA expects us to be eating less meat altogether. In a recent report, the agency predicted that Americans will consume just 197.7 pounds of meat and poultry per capita in 2013. That’s a 2.5 percent drop from 2012 and the first time that tally has dipped below 200 pounds in over 20 years. Slightly grossed out? Consider a salad for lunch.

Now the good news: Nevada sports books made out well on Monday night thanks to the NFL replacement refs’ blown call on the game between the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks. William Hill Public Relations Director Jimmy Vaccaro estimated a $15 million swing at local books, thanks to the last minute Hail Mary by Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson and the subsequent end zone tussle over the pigskin. The bad news: No word yet from Roger Goodell on coming to an agreement with the regular refs and getting rid of these scabs.

Now the Miss Piggy news: Voice judge and future Vegas headliner Cee Lo is scheduled to give the city a peek at his performing prowess with a one-night-only Cee Lo and Friends concert benefitting Keep Memory Alive on October 10. Last week, Planet Hollywood announced that the big man will have some company onstage, courtesy of Rod Stewart, former Voice contestants and—wait for it—the Muppets! Ever since Camilla and the chickens clucked their rendition of Gnarls Barkley’s “Forget You,” a collaboration between Mr. Green and the Muppets has been inevitable. Here’s hoping Miss Piggy and the big man get together for a duet or two.
