The fight-night analogies have been almost too easy. In his battle against House Republicans over government funding and Obamacare, Sen. Maj. Leader Harry Reid, a former amateur boxer, has delivered one verbal jab after another, making the dour federal shutdown a bit more entertaining, and becoming something of a headline hero. Until we can get Reid and Rep. House Speaker John Boehner in oversized sumo suits to duke it out for real(ish), we’ll settle for Reidisms like these:

“This is a law. Four years old. Declared constitutional. Let them find something else to be weird about.”

“Why don’t they get a life and figure out something else they’d like to mess around with.”

“The American people will not be extorted by Tea Party anarchists.”

“It is embarrassing that these people who were elected to represent the country are representing the Tea Party, the anarchists of the country.”
