City of Las Vegas partners with Downtown Project to offer more parking

“But where am I going to park?”

If you’re First Friday-bound this month, you’re likely asking yourself that exact question.

Well, thanks to a new three-year partnership between the City of Las Vegas and Downtown Project, you have two more lots to scour for parking near the monthly arts and culture festival.

Downtown Project developed its empty lots to offer the public the new parking prospects, and the city’s Parking Services division will operate and patrol them. The Llama Lot, at Ninth and Fremont streets on the site of the old Ambassador Hotel, adds 359 spaces to the Downtown parking equation, while the Gold Spike Lot, on the northeast corner of Las Vegas Boulevard and Ogden Ave., offers an additional 76. Both are paid lots, with rates as follows:

Llama Lot

Metered parking: $1 per hour, $6 all day

Monthly parking: $30 per month

Special event parking: Varies from $5 to $15

Gold Spike Lot

Daytime metered parking: $2 per hour, $10 all day

Night/weekend metered parking: $7.50 flat rate

Monthly parking: $50 per month

Special event parking: Varies from $10 to $30
