As We See It

The Palms’ Beverage Butler brings drinks (and a bowtie) to check-in

If you’re stuck in line, you don’t have to be stuck with the $5 tab for that beverage.

I’ve seen it in their faces. Guests at busy check-ins, fantasizing about running to the casino floor, ripping out a slot machine and carrying it back to the line so they could score free cocktails while they wait. The Palms has answered their silent prayers with a smartly dressed wonder known as the Beverage Butler.

Rocking a bowtie and bottles of rum, vodka and whiskey on a mirrored cart, he’ll offer up $5 classic cocktails, according to today’s announcement from the Palms. Order one and BB will track your progress in line. If you wait any longer than 300 seconds—bam—your drink is on the house.

The Palms blog on this lighthearted new feature in the lobby mentions that such a long wait is a rare occurrence, but no matter what, it’s pretty awesome that you can start the good times before you even get your bags in the elevator. If the airport can install a liquor store, it’s only fair that a hotel-casino matches that play with a butler bearing booze. He’ll be on hand during “prime check-in hours,” 4-7 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and 4-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Cheers.
