How much Elvis is too much Elvis?
Those who license his music and image seem destined to find the answer.
A veritable glut of Elvis music – like, all of it – hits the market in October with the release of The Complete Elvis Presley Masters. This box set is refreshingly simple in its marketing strategy: It is every Elvis recording, digitally remastered and presented in chronological order, from 1954 through 1974.
This veritable Elvis audio buffet represents more than 35 hours of music, 711 master recordings including 103 rarities on 30 CDs. The deluxe set is to be issued in three boxes and includes a 240-page, hardbound book of photos and words about The King.
The first 1,000 sets are numbered and offered as “limited edition” collectables. Those go for $763.99, and are offered now. It might make a good pairing with the "soundscape" CD issue from "Viva Elvis" at Aria, which is due in November.
