Strong of voice and resolute in his drive to entertain (how’s that for an opener?), Brody Dolyniuk has secured something of a regular schedule for Brody’s World at Ovation at Green Valley Ranch. This is a fortuitous piece of timing, as Dolyniuk was listed in this column last Thursday as one of the people to watch in 2011.
Dolyniuk, who seems to appear in The Kats Report with the frequency of exclamation marks (!), is performing his funny, high-volume and rapid-paced production the first Thursday of every month beginning Feb. 3. Dolyniuk will continue to perform with his primary band, Yellow Brick Road, at Suncoast on Wednesdays from 9 to 11 p.m., at GVR on Fridays from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. and on Saturdays from 11 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at Boulder Station.
Dolyniuk could sing the YBR set list, which hearkens to the greatest rock ’n’ roll releases of the eight-track era, indefinitely. But he’s always held higher aspirations, and the weekly showcases will give him additional chances to actually perform the show closest to his heart (to paraphrase Geddy Lee). Dolyniuk has hardly had a chance to even rehearse the show and has performed it just twice, live, at Ovation.
In an e-mail, I asked if the shows would be ticketed or free admission. Dolyniuk’s response was free … for now ;-).
So, catch it while you can at this customer-friendly price point.
