Well after last call in their hometown, San Diego-based bands Crash Encore and Transfer took over the Bunkhouse last night for back-to-back sets.
As the clock ticked towards 3 a.m., Transfer kept the thinned crowd dancing with a live sound that rocked with harder edges than their recorded material thanks largely to the violently energetic drumming of Mike Cooper. After wrapping up their set at 2:45 a.m., the band began breaking down before shouts of “one more!” kept Neon Reverb’s third night going for just a few more minutes.
Transfer's Matt Molarius
“This song’s a real bitch, too,” said lead singer Matt Molarius introducing encore selection “White Horse.” Indeed, the methodical baseline and moody vocals seemed to call forth the last remnants of energy from both the band and crowd. When the final notes had disappeared into silence a room full of sweaty, half-drunk musicians and fans eyed the Bunkhouse’s booths and deep chairs, ready to collapse.
