Explore over 80 miles of trails with cool moss and ferns, towering firs, or bayside views, all right within Bellingham city limits! Some trails are even fully accessible off parking lots, so everyone can get out and breathe our super fresh air.
• Whatcom Falls Park - Best known for its namesake waterfall, the park’s main attraction could easily be checked off your Bellingham bucket list in as little as 15 minutes. But there’s so much more to discover beyond the falls. Spend an hour or two wandering Whatcom Falls Park’s 241 acres, and you’ll find everything from miles of serene, forested trails to playgrounds and 100-year-old railroad trestle standing silently over Whatcom Creek.
• Squalicum Harbor - Squalicum Harbor is a full-service marina on the northern shores of Bellingham Bay in the City of Bellingham. It is the home port to more than 1,400 commercial and pleasure boats, including a large charter boat fleet. For the best views of the harbor, head to Zuanich Point Park, a popular destination for picnics and kite flying!
• South Bay Trail - It's no secret that Taylor Dock, just outside of Fairhaven Village, is one of the most popular trails in Whatcom County. Taylor Dock offers the opportunity for people to propel themselves in monorail-like fashion over the open waters of Bellingham Bay.
This connector, from the Fairhaven Village Green to Boulevard Park, is one of the best ways to take in the views of the Bay and Downtown Bellingham. There are benches along the way to grab a seat and soak in the views of distant mountains with the taste of salt water on your palate. You will also find a playground and locally owned Woods Coffee at Boulevard Park!
• Stimpson Family Nature Reserve - Located on the outskirts of Bellingham, you'll find the Stimpson Nature Reserve, a great location for trail running, walking, family hikes and exploring nature. With over four miles of trails through a beautiful forest, the serenity of the place is almost spiritual — it's a great spot to get away and connect with the outdoors, without having to drive out of the city limits of Bellingham.
• Waypoint Park - The newest waterfront park in Downtown Bellingham, Waypoint Park is a welcome beacon for “Bellinghamsters” and visitors! The Park is consistent of a playground, several outdoor murals and sculptures, beachfront access, a pump track, and Kulshan Brewing’s summer beer garden, formally known as Trackside.
The Park is also home to the Granary Building, built in 1929 and once the focal point of Bellingham, which has been converted into a space for local business, including Artivem Mead Co., Black Fern Coffee, SconeGrown, and on Wednesdays the Bellingham Farmer’s Market!
