All they need is Love: The creative minds and assorted legends behind the Beatles/Cirque production at The Mirage.

In the beginning, there were The Beatles. The ’90s and ’00s brought forth Cirque du Soleil. At a familiar intersection of artistic and commercial extremes, Strip production Love arrived in 2006. Today, so perfunctory it almost seems like an agreed-upon stipulation from the start, arrives All Together Now.

Directed by Adrian Wills

Plays again June 20 at 2 p.m.

Shot in London, Montreal and Vegas, the documentary traces the show’s evolution from the initial idea (George Harrison’s), through musical tinkering and staging, right up to and including opening night. George, Paul, Ringo, George Martin, Yoko Ono (and her enormous floppy hats), Olivia and Dhani Harrison, even the Dakota and Abbey Road Studios all appear, but it’s the cast and crew of Love that are far more interesting to watch, particularly when they’re wringing their hands and arguing in French over discrepancies in vision.

There’s certainly a hometown boost adding excitement to the effort, but other than a few anecdotes from the band’s heyday and the pall of George’s death hanging over the proceedings, there’s not much to be found other than PR-approved glad-handing. Stick it in a DVD case, sell it in the Mirage gift shop, and consider it yet another in a long line of artistic and commercial success for all parties involved.
