If you were at Beauty Bar on Thursday, you already know that Vegas has gotten a little sweeter since the arrival of electro-pop duo Hunnypot. Flooding the stage with laser lights and glow sticks, the third live show for local musicians Sheila Hall (Orange Sheila) and Jessica Chavez gave a satisfying glimpse into what these ladies can bring to the table. Infused with hip-hop, R&B and electro-clash undertones, the pair are producing beats and slicing up tracks from artists like Peaches and Le Tigre for female-empowered songs you can’t help but get down to. The longtime friends originally got together under the name Hunnypot to remix some of Chavez’ solo work, but Hall says they’ve since moved in a different direction. “It’s happening so organically,” Hall says. “Most of the songs are kind of sexualized, but we feel like we have to do it. There’s a void; there’s a vacuum.” From the new wavey “We Are in Love” to ’90s dance tune “The Way You Make Me Feel,” Hunnypot seems to have something for everyone. As long as you don’t mind getting a little sticky.
