Hot Spots: 50 Cent at Tao, Wet Republic opens and more

Wet Republic opening With highs in the 70s for the majority of the week, it’s no surprise pool season is here (though we’re guessing a few readers just had mini-meltdowns over their gym progress). The MGM ultra pool leads the pack of dayclubs, kicking off its 2012 season on Friday. Oscar Goodman is cutting the ribbon, and we’re hoping he sticks around for a poolside mojito. March 9, doors at 11 a.m., $40 men, $20 women, locals free before noon.

Brew’s Best at the Village at Lake Las Vegas More than 80 beers will be available to taste at the lakeside resort Saturday, and the selection includes local brewing companies (Joseph James and Tenaya Creek) and regional ones (Stone, Lagunitas and Kona, to name a few). Enjoy music by local reggae rockers HaleAmanO and feel good about your philanthropic self—proceeds benefit New Vista, an organization devoted to bettering the lives of the intellectually challenged. March 10, 1 p.m., $25-$40.

Downtown Throwdown at Beauty Bar The hipster hangout presents Volume 2 of its EDM bash devoted to the drum and bass, dubstep, electro and moombahton genres Saturday night. Enjoy live performances by Chasing Kings and Moth & The Flame, along with beats by DJs TeenWolf, Midnight Affair and more. And should all the dancing rev up your appetite, food truck fare won’t be far away with Vegas StrEATs just around the corner from Beauty Bar’s door. March 10, doors at 9 p.m., $5.

Breathe Carolina at Pure The electronic rock duo’s single “Blackout” peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart at No. 32, and chances are you’ve heard it on the airwaves. They’ll perform the radio favorite Saturday night, with sound also supplied by resident DJs Slip, Cyberkid and Joey Mazzola. March 10, doors at 10 p.m., $30 men, $20 women.

Jesse Metcalfe at Gallery This summer, the Desperate Housewives actor will star in Dallas, the continuation of the classic drama series of the same name. He celebrates his new television project at the Planet Hollywood nightclub on Saturday. March 10, doors at 10 p.m., $30 men, $20 women, includes PCD Saloon entry.

21 Below at Krave Break out your highlighters and glow sticks! The Strip-side gay club is throwing a special black-light edition of its weekly 18+ bash Sunday night. Up in the booth: resident DJs Mikey Francis and Michael Graves. March 11, doors at 10 p.m., $10, locals free before 12:30 a.m.

Bruno Mars at 1Oak 1Oak launches its industry night on Tuesday with a special performance by the Grammy-winning recording artist. Also bringing the noise: local DJs Karma and Ikon. March 13, doors at 10:30 p.m., $40 men, $30 women, locals free until midnight.

50 Cent at Tao The Nightclub & Bar Convention and Trade Show is here, bringing with it its Platinum Parties. The Venetian venue opens its doors Wednesday night to present one such soiree with the “In da Club” rapper serving as the evening’s special guest. Resident DJ Eric D-Lux brings his beats. March 14, doors at 11 p.m., $20-$30 presale tickets.
