A life with a purpose. That’s what the Bold & Glow planner aims to deliver.

Vegas-based graphic designer Fabiola Rangel always knew she wanted to make something personal, but it wasn’t until the pandemic that she was able to slow down and make her own goals come to fruition.

“I was having a conversation with my sister—I'm a really big fan of planners. I’d been using one for finance and another where I was writing my goals for the year. I was saying to my sister, ‘I wish I had just one book where I had my goals, my habits and my finances,’ and she was like, ‘You’re a graphic designer, you can do it.’”

Rangel calls her Bold & Glow planner her “pandemic baby,” something important to her that she birthed in an otherwise uncertain time.

Inside the planner is a range of unique features, including a “Wheel of Life,” a mood board—”that’s really important for motivation,” Rangel says—and sections on gratitude and goals.

“I've seen other planners that are similar, but this is more ... I don’t want to say spiritual, but trying to make you focus on yourself and what you want in your life and your goals. The fact that you have your goals in your planner makes you look at them and remember them,” she says.

Promoting personal balance and “the best version of you,” the Wheel of Life was inspired by an exercise Rangel learned in a leadership course, which includes sections on family, love, social life, career, physical health, emotional health and finance.

“It makes you think about how well you’re doing in different areas of your life,” Rangel says.

As a new entrepreneur and owner of a Latina-run business, Rangel says it took a lot of time to research and figure out how she wanted things to look and feel.

“This is my first time that I did something by myself,” Rangel says. “The easiest part of the planner was the design and researching how I wanted it to look because I'm really familiar with design. After that, I had to learn a lot of things I hadn't thought about, like shipping, talking to a manufacturer and customers, and social media.”

Rangel, who used to work as a designer for a Spanish radio station, eventually ended up in advertising, specifically focusing on the hotel and food and beverage industries. But her successful career wasn’t fulfilling a deeper desire to help people.

“I really wanted to do something with a purpose,” Rangel says. “I love creating new things, but I wanted to do something that could impact peoples’ lives in a good way. Sometimes it's kinda sad being a graphic designer, working on something that people just see one time, or to sell something that people don’t really need.”

Rangel hopes to inspire people to chase after their goals, no matter how big or small. And with a new year upon us, there isn’t a better time to start.

Rangel’s Bold & Glow planners are currently on sale at boldnglow.com.
