THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

Dear Dream Zone:

I dreamt I was asleep in my room when a boy came in my window and tried to attack me. I fought with him until I got away. I ran into the den. My father was asleep on the sofa. I tried to wake him up, but I couldn’t. I ran to the back yard. There was a huge tiger lying peacefully in the grass. At that point, I felt like everything was going to be OK.

Alicia, 16

Lauri: It seems you’ve had a recent “rude awakening” in your life. You’ve realized most teenage boys want ... well, you know! In this dream, your psyche is telling you it’s time to put up your defenses. Dad can’t be awakened in your dream to help you because he is unaware of the full scope of your womanhood. Dads tend to prefer their daughters remain young and innocent. So you run to the back yard and meet your inner protectress, the tiger! She is symbolic of your own sexual power. She is your ability to be enticing when you want and your ability to protect your interests. Now’s the time to actualize that feminine sexual protection device! “Paws off unless I say so, buddy!”

Alicia replies: This interpretation has really helped me. I had a boy take advantage of me when I was in a drunken state. I’ve learned an important lesson, and now feel empowered!

Dream Fact: Over the span of an entire lifetime, we will have spent six years dreaming.

I DON’T KNOW if there is any hope left for me. I’ve been married to my husband for 14 years. We have three children. The last four years have been very difficult. I caught him in two long-term affairs. He felt my job was a big factor in his decision to have affairs. I felt this was bull but for him, I left the only industry I’ve ever held a job in and started a whole new career.

It’s been very tough getting started. I went through a lot of therapy. We recently just had another baby, but I found evidence he may be having another affair. I don’t know what to do. I feel all of the counseling we went through was worthless. I feel humiliated, used, stupid, ugly, and incapable of being loved. I can’t tell you how this is affecting my ability to work.

A three-part question: Is he having another affair? Will we stay together, or am I strong enough to walk away? And will I ever break through in my new career? I feel lost and confused. Anything you could give me would help!

FRAZZLED MOM

Dear Frazzled,

Your husband is the source of all your stress and frankly, I applaud that you’re able to keep things together. Your husband has an insecurity complex and thinks other women being attracted to him make him more of a man. I don’t see him having an affair right now; however, I do see that the more you emphasize things you don’t like about yourself, the more he’ll agree with you. He’s looking for the excuse to have affairs and I can almost hear him blaming you for them.

Try something out of character until July: Act as if your relationship with him is exactly as you like it. Don’t talk about his shortcomings. By acting as though he can’t push your buttons, you take your power back. Then you’ll have your own answer. I see August as your month of decisions. Also, take care of yourself and your children right now (food, exercise, rest and spiritual connection). He’ll see what he’ll miss if he’s stupid enough to continue behaving like this. Create harmony around you in spite of him. Your career improves when you resolve the personal stuff and regain your balance.

Psychic Check-in

I’ve read your columns and found them really insightful. I recently read your views of being psychic. I’ve always followed my instinct on letting someone who says they’re psychic read for me. You seem very genuine.

I had the gift of psychic ability when I was younger. I closed it off, however, and now I’m trying to get it back. When I was younger it was too much to see ghosts around me all the time. Plus, it really bothered my friends and family that I could tell them what was about to happen. I just never thought anything about it, as a few people in my family could do this as well.

I just applied for a job I really want. I’ve worked hard for my degree and need to know if this is where I’m supposed to work. I know I’m supposed to be a healer, so I just need confirmation that I’m on the right path.

HEALER AT HEART

Dear Healer,

You’re doing exactly what you’re supposed to be doing right now. The job, the degree, the perspective of your life are on target. Amazing things will begin happening for you no later than July. Instead of relearning your psychic gifts, learn to focus healing light. That will be your most remarkable gift. I see you being at this job only nine months because you’ll have learned what you’ll need. Watch out for a lazy man who will try to take credit for your work. Write out your five-year plan and visualize something much more unrestrained.
