What else to watch

Josh Bell

Last summer, Hollywood brought us Freddy vs. Jason, pitting the two slasher movie villains against each other. This week sees the opening of Alien vs. Predator, combining the two sci-fi/action franchises. What other movie matchups might we expect in upcoming summers?

Rocky vs. Rambo

Deep in the jungles of Vietnam lies an illegal boxing ring. When aging prizefighter Rocky Balboa, hard up for cash and desperate to regain his former glory, joins forces with the guerillas exploiting POWs for entertainment, aging vigilante John Rambo has no choice but to take him down. Written, produced, directed by and starring Sylvester Stallone.

Beavis & Butt-Head vs. Harold & Kumar

So, like, there's these two guys, right? One of them's this uptight Asian dude, and the other is this laid-back Indian dude. And they totally want to get high and eat burgers. But then this major buzzkill sells them some bogus weed, and it takes them to this weird cartoon land where there's these other two dudes, and they don't even need to get high, because they're totally naturally stoned. But then the cartoon dudes steal the other dudes' weed, and it's totally on. Until, you know, they all forget what they were doing in the first place. Huh-huh, cool.

Daredevil vs. Catwoman

In an all-out war to see whose career is fading faster, Ben Affleck's or Halle Berry's, the two third-rate superheroes find themselves on opposite sides of an explosive court case, as lawyer Matt Murdock is hired to defend evil cosmetics firm Hedare Beauty, and Patience Philips is the star witness against the company. By day, they spar in court, and by night, they spar in bed, as the two super-powered hotties fall in love while fighting crime.

Mary-Kate vs. Ashley

Having failed at the box office with their cuddly, family-friendly comedy New York Minute, the tween billionaires take a new strategy with their next film, playing twin assassins separated at birth. One raised in the ancient Japanese bushido tradition, the other on the mean streets of New York, they are hired by rival drug lords in a brutal turf war, only to discover their shared lineage, and a shared desire ... for vengeance. Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino.
