THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I've been widowed for over 15 years. For five years, I prayed my husband would come to me in a dream with wisdom, comfort, or just to see his face. Now, 10 years later, he's s been in several dreams saying he wants a divorce and doesn't love me anymore. What's this all about?

Julie, 49

Lauri: Ths isn't your husband's spirit telling you this. It's you! The end of your marriage was forced on you, so 15 years later you're telling yourself, "I need to divorce myself from him of my own will." What's suddenly causing you to need to cut the ties to him and move on? Take a good look at your life since his passing. Did you remarry? Many widows and widowers never remarry because they feel it betrays their wedding vows. Your dreams say it's time to move on.

Julie replies: I never remarried, but I'm in a relationship. I'm hesitant to say I'm in love, like I'm protecting myself because it will mean an end with my late husband. It was a safe place to be till now.

I follow your column, and have heard your radio show. I've noticed a trend: You keep telling everyone (it seems) that, "things will turn around" in October. I'd love to know, what's happening in October? Astrological lineup? New vibe? Spiritual changes? Please, let me in on it!

It follows that I'd like to know if I'd benefit from the October shift, too. Things have been bad lately; I feel stuck in a bad karma vortex, a voodoo curse and an evil conspiracy all at once. I'm losing all hope and just don't know where to turn next.

J. Lost

Dear J. Lost,

October in numerology reduces to a "one" (as in taking care of No. 1). It also resonates with The Wheel of Fortune or Change in Tarot. You're right, I've told people October because it's an excellent month for making changes and represents the balance of desires. In November (patience, and withdrawal) and December (preparation and release/resolve of the past), people put things on hold with the excuse of waiting until after the holidays.

The cards reflect the number 10 for people when they ask. The next major time for positive change will be January (a "one" month, too). Thank you for following my column and radio show enough to notice.

Remember that the Universe gets persistent and uncomfortable when you're resistant to change. You're not under a curse; you're just being made uncomfortable enough to take action for yourself. You have to picture what a better life looks like and then do the work to get there. Sometimes that means releasing certain people/situations/habits along the way.

I've practiced massage therapy in the resort/spa sector for almost five years and feel I'm approaching one of those cosmic crossroads. I feel I must move on from my current, stable situation in order to grow professionally and personally.

I'm looking into a somewhat lateral, less stable move into a high-profile resort spa, but at my gym, people keep approaching me about my specialty: rehabilitative sports massage.

I'd like to pursue a college education, majoring in social work, minoring in physical therapy, to combine mental and physical health sciences into a more holistic modality. I know there's a need for this, and I'll need a degree to create the foundation, and to work to pay for college.

But I'm not sure which direction would be best. I'd welcome any insight on this.

Cat

Dear Cat,

You're destined to be one of the most recognized and respected physical/psychic therapists in the country.

I see greater potential for you than the ideas you've been considering. Should you pursue a formal education, please consider the combination of psychology (not social work) and physical therapy. Learn along the way a specialty in hypnosis, too.

Your clients will ultimately be people of means and seek you out for the weekend retreats you conduct. Also, I see that you'll attract a man (not romantically) through your work who'll have the money. He'll help you create a facility for people to tackle their fears, overcome and work through physical limitations and reveal a more emotionally/spiritually satisfying life.

Yes, I do see you creating "credential" for your new path and also see that the people around you will help you. Tell every one of your clients you're going back to school and what you plan to do. Instead of going to one of those high-profile spas, consider instead the other resources available to you. Research the grant and student loans and think about the larger impact you'll make on the world. You're capable of amazing success; it begins because people you don't know yet already trust you.
