Adding up the numbers for a jittery reader

THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

My cat and I spent the night at another couple's house. In the morning, I was getting ready to leave and saw how cluttered their property was inside and out. Walking across the property, I saw big puddles of anti-freeze and remembered my ex telling me it will kill animals. I hoped my cat was smart enough to stay away, but then I turned and saw him drenched in anti-freeze and gagging in pain. I grabbed him and woke up screaming my ex's name.

Claudia, 42

Lauri: The couple symbolize you and your ex. Like your visit, your relationship was only temporary. Would you say your relationship, like the property, was cluttered with issues? Cats often symbolize pride and independence ... and even, to a woman, her sexuality. He's drenched in anti-freeze because YOU are overdoing something to numb yourself from your ex's "frozen" emotions. Your dream says that, like your cat, you may be gagging in pain and your pride may be wounded but it isn't dead. And also like a cat, you too can land on all fours when you take a fall.

Claudia replies: I've been working much more overtime since the breakup to keep myself afloat emotionally. What better way to forget about "cold" emotions and no one to go home to? Wow, this is deep! I understand the message in the dream. It's a warning but also hopeful.

Lately I've been fearful. For instance: Losing my job before getting enough practice/experience to do it right, so I thought I'd be fired. Now that I know what I'm doing, I realize that fear was unfounded. However, I have gained and lost it all in the past so there are doubts about it all.

In numerology my number is 4, and life-changing events have occurred on the 11th of the month. My job is profitable but for me not fulfilling and I'm seriously thinking of going to school. What do you see happening for me?

Fearful

Dear Fearful,

I vote for any education that will allow you to feel more confident about your ability and right to have a successful career. I also encourage you to recognize the "words of limitation" that come from an authority figure from your past. These are not your words; these are quotes that you carry in your head that describe your character, your abilities, your intelligence, your appearance, etc.—words that are untruths about your potential.

Fours tend to seek security first when it comes to a job. You will work at a job you absolutely loathe just to make sure that money is still rolling in. Eleven is a master number in numerology. The two ones set together that make up 11 represent an agreement between you and the Universe. It is a moment of connecting with the Divine, so when things "happen" on that day of the month for you it's because you've allowed yourself that snippet of permission to be open to something new. Even if the event is considered unfortunate on the surface, it's actually helping you recognize that you can have a better way of life.

The next 18 months are about discovering what can make you happy personally and professionally. It's important that you behave as though people who you don't know are just friends you haven't met yet. This doesn't mean loaning them your car, but it does mean an automatic benefit of the doubt until they prove you otherwise. Viewing people as helpful shifts you from fearful to empowered.

Trust is the key to your success as a businessman. For you to supervise others (which I see as your next career step), you must be able to release the idea that you have to do things yourself for those tasks to be done correctly. This shifted perspective allows you to accept that other people can do a great job. Their reward is not only being paid fairly for a job well done, but also the accolades they'll receive from you. The step after the supervisory role is to form your own company. This can all be accomplished within the next two years.

I am hurting on several fronts. Right now the lack of clients/income is creating a deep anxiety. Do I need to hang my license in another place, or is the profession not good for one like me? It has been painful recently to be cheated out of a business opportunity. This pattern, unfortunately, is not new in my life (hidden trials and treachery from others galore), yet my soul demands that I adhere to principles. Is there any light on the horizon that you see for me? I'd appreciate your input on my situation.

A Lion Muzzled

Dear Lion,

Please keep everything in place until August. You're going through a weird "political" situation for the next seven weeks. This is when your intuition, trust and love for your career take center stage.

Maintain your balance, be aware of opportunities to expand your business and know that the money will be there when you need it.

There are people around you who are jealous that you're brave enough to go after what you want. Release those people who don't support you and bless them to find their own way. You're supposed to do something grand and you don't need the conflict of lesser individuals interfering. Lions needn't roar to make their point.
