THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I've had a couple of dreams where I'm running from an angry bear. In one, my brother helped me get away; in the other, my husband was there. Just before the bear would get me I'd wake up. What does that mean?

Hilary, 21

Lauri: The bear symbolizes someone or some issue in your life that seems "over-bear-ing" at times. So rather than confront the person or deal with the issue head-on, you try to avoid it ... essentially "running from" it. Any issues involving your brother or husband you're too afraid to deal with? The bear never gets you in your dreams because your inner mind knows the person or issue the dream is commenting on can't truly hurt you. These dreams say to stop running and avoiding and start dealing. When you do, these dreams will stop.

Hilary replies: This makes a lot of sense. The first time I had the dream was just after my father died. I try to avoid the fact that he's dead by thinking that he's just off working. The next time I had the dream was right after I miscarried. I had it again after my brother died. I have a very hard time dealing with their deaths, so I just think of them being out there somewhere. I probably have to just face it. It would be a lot easier.

ARIES
(March 21-April 20)

Recently, I did a psychic reading for an Aries who was worried about her marriage. Her husband was a frequent target of her anger, when she couldn't get her way or be in control. He threatened to leave if she didn't lay off. I chose an Aries card for her, the Two of Wands, called "Dominion," suggesting a need for more self-love. You can expect it on Sunday, as Moon in Aries trines Venus and Saturn, and a full Moon follows Monday. (By the way, self-love's different from selfishness.) Love: yourself, love others; Career: be clear; Health: let go.

TAURUS
(April 21-May 21)

I'm often asked which is more revealing: a psychic or astrological reading. I find them mutually compatible (though most readers don't do both). The cards (my "second opinion") have astrological symbols on them, so I relate them to a person's horoscope. For example, I randomly chose a Taurus card for you called "Worry," the Five of Disks. Moon in Taurus squaring Saturn Tuesday may feel "heavy" and worrisome, but Moon conjuncting Mars Wednesday speeds things along, helping you finish a career project. Intuition tells me you'll be pleased with the results. Love: mushy; Career: solid; Health: serene.

GEMINI
(May 22-June 21)

As a psychic advisor as well as an astrologer, I've read for many twins, and can honestly say I find Gemini the "mystery" sign of the zodiac. Your intensely creative, changeable souls are not easy to plumb. I know this, however: On Wednesday, Moon enters your sign and trines Chiron, a cluster of heavenly bodies symbolizing a wounded warrior and healer. My take is that you're doing something very good for the planet. Love: "The Lovers," a Gemini card, indicates ambivalence; Career: it can be done, so do it now! Health: bountiful.

CANCER
(June 22-July 22)

In the metaphysical world, all water signs are seen to have psychic powers. That's because water is associated with emotions, empathy, "sensitivity." I've pulled a Cancerian card, the Three of Cups, for you this week. It's called "Abundance." With Moon in water sign Pisces this weekend, trining Mercury and sextiling Mars and Pluto, you'll be prepared when the Moon becomes full on Monday. It's your planetary ruler, so when it's full, so are you. Love: gets bigger every day; Career: more than enough; Health: it's all about emotional fulfillment.

LEO
(July 23-Aug. 23)

My Leo clients often choose the "Sun" card when they have a psychic reading with me. The Sun is your planetary ruler, and on Monday, with a full Moon in Aries, you'll feel "lit from within" and very much at one with the Universe. Sun trines Venus and Saturn on Sunday, giving you a warm sense of camaraderie with a work/love partner. You can gain ground in a joint creative project on that day. By Monday, Venus trines Saturn and Pluto. All this under a full Moon stimulates powerful emotions. Love: feel the energy; Career: you're pushed forward; Health: stoked.

VIRGO
(Aug. 24-Sept. 22)

Moon in Taurus, between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, gives you the purchase needed for completion of a pet project, or to score a new job. A hefty Moon square Saturn turns you into an overachiever, which is fine, as long as you're in fit condition for the interview the next day. The Eight of Disks,"Prudence," a Virgo tarot card, tells me that you will be rewarded for your work. It's a great big money tree poised against a bright yellow sky, and its roots go deep. Love: you handled it nicely; Career: about to climb; Health: don't turn down the massage.

LIBRA
(Sept. 23-Oct. 23)

A Libra reader asked how I came up with the phrase "good to go" for the "health" category of his horoscope recently. "Is that a psychic thing, or purely astrological?" he wanted to know. "Probably psychic," I replied. He then said he wanted to help out with the relief effort in New Orleans, but was afraid the Red Cross wouldn't accept him. "Hold on!" he exclaimed. "I was just in Tunisia, and got all my shots. I'm good to go!" Today, with Moon in air (Aquarius), my prediction is that you, too, are "good to go." Love: joyful; Career: cooks; Health: you glow.

SCORPIO
(Oct. 24-Nov. 22)

On Monday, the full Moon and lunar eclipse in restless Aries could energize you in a pre-Halloween prowl. I've done a Scorpio card reading for you: the Six of Cups, "Pleasure," flanked by the Queen and Prince of Cups, voodoo royalty of the tarot. And starting October 13, the Moon trines Uranus and Jupiter in water sign Pisces, adding a sudden sixth-sense sensibility to the mix. If you're looking for love—or just trawling for sensation—you're in the right week. Love: rent Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Career: surging upward; Health: moisturize.

SAGITTARIUS
(Nov. 23-Dec. 20)

Moon's in Aries on Sunday and turns full on Monday morning, and trines Venus, your sign and Saturn in Leo, bringing in the whole fire-sign family. It's a satisfying start to the week that manages to be both frisky and mellow. I pulled the Nine of Wands from the tarot, a Sagittarian card called "Strength" for you. It's a perfect balance between the male and female energies. The message: Your inner strength will carry you through the tough (and tender) times ahead. Love: trust your instincts; Career: full speed ahead; Health: have complete faith.

CAPRICORN
(Dec. 21-Jan. 20)

Tuesday, as Moon in fellow earth sign Taurus sextiles Uranus, there could be a pleasant surprise of a personal nature. Someone changes his/her mind and decides it's better to stick with the tried and true rather than risk losing a good thing. That "someone" could be you, Cap. I've pulled the Three of Disks, called "Works." Mars in Capricorn is its astrological symbol. It's a card of upward mobility that signals you're going in the right direction. Stay with your original hunch—it'll pay off. Love: be flexible; Career: ditto; Health: lay off the stress.

AQUARIUS
(Jan. 21-Feb. 18)

October 13, you could receive a career boost, as Moon in Aquarius trines Jupiter and Mercury trines Uranus. A square between Moon and Mars indicates that you'll feel less than secure about it. Moon sextiling Pluto tells me that you have executive backing, so don't worry. I've pulled the Seven of Swords, an Aquarian tarot card called "Futility," pointing out that it's futile for you to try and guess the future. That's my job, and my psychic take is: Stay present. It's your point of power. Love: fulfills; Career: goes the right way; Health: you're safe.

PISCES
(Feb. 19-March 20)

If there's one sign in the zodiac that confers psychic ability, it's Pisces. In the next few days, you'll feel the pull of the Moon as it rolls toward fullness Monday. As the Moon swells, so does your intuition, and as it trines Jupiter today and Mercury tomorrow, I'd be willing to predict you land a big one by the weekend. Reel it in slowly and deliberately, so it won't suspect it's being snagged. The great thing about being you this week is that you don't have to throw it back. Love: showers you with affection; Career: jumpin'; Health: surrender.
