Diverse talents keep crowds oohing and ahhing

While V–The Ultimate Variety Show may give away its very essence in the title, the name doesn't offer any hint of the whirlwind pace that this entertaining production presents.

The show kicks off with the playful, wise-cracking comedy of Master of Ceremonies Jeff Hobson, whose quick, sexual innuendo-laden comedy and audience interaction quickly warm crowds and set the momentum for the rest of the show.

Another blast of energy is the seemingly eight-handed, world record-breaker Anthony Gatto, who also uses his head, neck, feet and chin to keep things moving rapidly in his vigorous juggling act that gets audiences cheering and clapping.

Then there's Iouri and Nikolai, two Russian natives who perform magnificent feats of strength, flexibility and endurance in a challenging hand balancing act that leaves crowds oohing and ahhing. These two work their bodies so hard that it almost leaves you breathless.

Another standout act is Russ Merlin, who's introduced as the "most unusual act in lvmagazine." Bringing four audience volunteers to the stage, Merlin adorns them with humorous-looking masks and assigns each hand gestures to perform when tapped on the shoulder. He then intertwines silly questions and comments with the gestures, and hilarity ensues.

'V' offers an evening packed with a diversity of talent and plenty of dynamo. And despite some adult-oriented humor (which goes right over the kiddies' heads), the show is great for the fam.
