with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg I had a nightmare that I was trapped. A demonic black creature was trying to kill me. Deadly holes in the floor prevented me from running. In the dream I was reading a horrifying book and the dream followed what I read in the book. I skipped to the end and it looked like it turned out okay, but I was too afraid to continue reading. Jackie, 30, Sioux City, IA Lauri: The demonic black creature symbolizes something negative in your life. Ask yourself what or who is causing you to feel trapped, and unable to progress. What situation are you in that you would like to get out of? Are you holding yourself back due to fear or weakness? That's what the holes in the floor are. They indicate that you feel you don't have a strong support system within yourself, an ability to "stand your ground." Holes in dreams can also mean you feel something is missing in your life. The book in your dream is interesting. Is it time to "end this horrible chapter" of your life? The good news is that the end of the book wasn't scary. This means you know, deep down, that whatever it is you are going through right now, it's all going to be all right ... in the end. Whatever is going on, your dream is telling you it'll be worth it in the end. Jennifer replies: I have been in an abusive relationship for five years. He is a drug addict and alcoholic, in and out of jail. In 2005 he left me for this woman he had on the side. After he left me he went back in jail. He wrote me faithfully about how he had changed and wanted to get married. When he was released he came to my work confessing his love, and being 30 and wanting love and marriage, something that was missing in my life, I contemplated his ultimatum.
