Randleman fights for Pride!

Last week's cover misidentified the mixed martial arts organization that Kevin Randleman fights for. He should have been billed as "Pride FC star Kevin Randleman." The Weekly regrets the error. So we made a modifed, correct version above.

Enhanced Irony: No Artificial Sweeteners

Regarding your October 12 article "The Cult of Whole Foods":

Oblivious to the irony, the surgically enhanced matrons of Summerlin parade their fake breasts through the aisles of Whole Foods while insisting that every crumb and drop crossing their lips is devoid of any artificial enhancers whatsoever. You gotta love this town, eh?

Lobato Trial Questioned

I have just read your article ["The Trial," October 12] for the first time and intend to read it quite a bit more closely the next time, but I have a couple of questions to ask you, based on my first reading.

First of all, in the section on October Fifth, 2006, you say, "Yet, two critical things had hurt the defense during its case in chief. Their revelatory witnesses, experts in forensic medicine and crime investigation analysis from out of state, came off on the stand as overly subjective. They seemed indignant toward the prosecutors, they appeared to come with the intention of tearing down everything Metro and the Clark County medical examiner had done, and in the end the two witnesses, though academic and articulate, lost much of their credibility due to apparent bias. In turn, the defense looked desperate."

However, I just don't see what you mean about the expert witnesses.

They were there to testify on Blaise's behalf. What other kind of attitude is expected on the stand? I question how they should have acted to be more credible, without compromising their viewpoint. ...

Thank you,

Hard Work on Vegas Music Conference

Dear Martin Stein,

I would like to thank you for covering the Vegas Music Conference ["A Long Multiple Nights' Journey Into the Vegas Music Conference," September 28]. I appreciate your honest feedback in regards to the conference and the events. I must say we did not expect as large of a turnout as we got the first year (20,000 attendees over five days) and were most definitely understaffed for this year's VMC. I did notice one error in your article: The organizers of the VMC are Sid Zuber, VP of Production; Cyril Palacios, VP of Media and Technology; Vakas Sial, VP of Investor Relations; Mike Ebrahimi, CFO; Gino LoPinto; Victor Solomon; and Daniel Bussius, CEO and Founder. Bo Karlen helped to promote the Vegas Music Conference but at this point is not an owner of the Vegas Music Conference.

The core staff that developed and created the Vegas Music Conference enabling this first year to come to fruition are: Sid Zuber, Cyril Palacios, Mike Ebrahimi, Vakas Sial, Gino LoPinto and Daniel Bussius. Thank you kindly for taking note of this. ... My team worked endless hours and put their heart and soul into this year to make Vegas Music Conference a reality. I think they would greatly appreciate some recognition for all their hard work and dedication.

We have already begun planning for 2007 and can ensure that next year will offer improved organization, more time for planning, marketing and promotion as well as a line-up that will be equally or more impressive then 2006. ...

Thank you again and I look forward to having your publication cover Vegas Music Conference next year and many years to come.
