BEYOND THE ROPE

Matthew Lindsey, the Music Man

HOMETOWN: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma AGE: 26 PROFESSION: Club owner, promoter, tour manager PROFILE: Based in Vegas but spending as much as 70 percent of his time on the road as tour manager for Shiny Toy Guns and booking manager for Kill Hannah, Lindsey handles PR and promotions and manages the activities of his clients on the road. He also at one point owned two nightclubs in Oklahoma: Stereolab and EBM. Lindsey is now a fixture on both the Vegas club scene and the local music scene.  WHY I DO WHAT I DO: “I want to bring credibility and passion back to the music industry in Las Vegas. It’s taken a shift to vanity. The real focus belongs on these musicians and these artists who live and die by their guitar and by their drums.” PERSONAL TIDBIT: Yes, he can walk the walk as well as talk the talk! Lindsey plays the keyboard, drums and guitar, sings and is also a DJ. He definitely sees himself getting back to his performance roots in the future. LAST BOOK READ: The Five Love Languages, by Gary Chapman Latest Accomplishment: A Fight for Fame, his 12-week, statewide battle of the bands Sundays at Icehouse, was born out of his perception that there was a lack of love in the local music scene for homegrown sounds. QUOTE: “I do everything with excellence, even down to my [MAC] eyeliner.”
