I am getting married this June and have been having strange dreams about ex-boyfriends lately. My latest dream was that I married my first real boyfriend whom I haven’t seen or spoken with in a few years. I was running around frantic in my dream because I didn’t have my veil or undergarments with me, my hair was a mess, and my flower girl was MIA!

Lauri: Don’t worry! It is absolutely normal to have distressing dreams about your wedding day. If you weren’t having them I might wonder if something was wrong! Consider these dreams dress rehearsal. But not just dress rehearsal for your big day ... dress rehearsal for your marriage as well. You are marrying your first real boyfriend in your dream because that’s where you learned your first lesson about commitment. What is the most important thing you learned from that relationship? Your veil and your undergarments are both about hiding something. Is there anything you are keeping “under wraps” from your fiancé? Or have you gotten something out and are now feeling a little vulnerable? The messy hair is also significant. It suggests that your thoughts may be scattered, which is understandable. Brides-to-be are really good at freaking themselves out over the wedding preparations ... and unfortunately, that takes away from the magic of the whole thing. So be sure you enjoy this time of preparation. Take it easy.
