Dream Zone

Dream Zone for the Week of July 5-11

I’ve had two dreams about my car lately. In the first one I walk up to my car parked in a driveway to find a tree has fallen on top of it and smashed it. In the second one I come upon my car and it’s been vandalized, windows smashed, stripped and burned.

Lauri: Your car, to your dreaming mind, is your ability to move forward in a particular direction in your life; it is your “drive” or motivation to reach your goals. A parked car suggests something in your life has been put on hold or stalled.

The tree that has fallen on your car suggests that something has suddenly “crushed” your hopes in reaching a certain goal. Basically, your dream is presenting your real-life situation to you in the form of a damaged car, which means you may have to decide if your real-life situation is “totaled” (hopeless) or worth repairing and moving forward with.

Nicola replies: That’s very confirming of how I’ve been feeling in waking moments. I was out in the Northwest for job interviews for 10 days, and during that period I had those dreams. I was considering a substantial cross-country move and a change in jobs and community. However, the area didn’t exactly feel like a fit to me and my personality. My dreams must’ve been telling me that this isn’t a good direction for me to go. Going out there and then not feeling “sold” on the change probably feels like “crushed” hopes to some extent.
