TO LIVE & WORK IN LAS VEGAS

Part 4: Monopoly Money (conclusion)

Friday, June 15

Danny Gans was quite funny! Afterward we met up with David’s ex-girlfriend and her friends and we all headed to Revolution Lounge for, this time, a legitimate light night. (I wasn’t sure those existed.)

Saturday, June 16

David, his friend, plus Chad and I all met at Zuri in the MGM. After some cocktails, the girls joined us and we headed to Nobhill for dinner. While I must say my salmon was delectable, I’m not sure the culmination of the atmosphere and the food was really worth the amount we paid. Half of me loves to be extravagant, but the other half is a perfectionist. And that half knows the price point was a tad off. Logic aside, we were having a fantastic evening.

The girls and David left dinner and headed to Tao Beach; the rest of the boys and I had a table at Carmel in The Venetian waiting for us -- where I made the fabulous mistake of assuming Bacardi was a vodka. Really, I had no idea. Two mixed drinks later I was swearing off rum while David’s friend met with some more people and Chad and I headed to Tao. We didn’t stay there long; David was plastered and although it was my first time at Tao it was a bit crowded for my taste. Besides, Empire would be open shortly.

David went back to the MGM for the night and the girls followed Chad and I to Empire. We were only there for about 10 minutes before Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson literally brushed by us to get upstairs. I’ve really been making up for my lack celeb sightings now. And oh the close proximity! (Crystal the Celeb Magnet!)

My roommate joined us that night, and after losing his and Chad’s whereabouts for several minutes (never good) they both found me by the bar.

“Crystal! Guess what just happened to us,” said Chad, “King went to buy a drink at the bar and Ray ended up coming over and taking us outside.”

“What? Why?” Ray is the manager at Empire and always fantastic to me.

“All I had was hundreds on me,” said King, “so I broke the bills outside Empire and they must have given me bunk twenties! The bartender thought I was trying to rip him off!”

This is exceptionally hilarious because our roommate would be the last person in the entire world to use counterfeit money. This guy is 100 percent class and very “by the book.” The idea that King, of all people, might be passing funny money had us all laughing out loud.

“Is everything okay now?” I asked Chad.

“I had to tell Ray we were here with you, because I don’t think he believed us before that. But then he understood.”

Vegas, Vegas, Vegas. Always keeping me on my toes.
