THE DREAM ZONE

with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I have had recurring dreams of tornadoes for as long as I can remember. Last night I had a dream that I was in a trailer by myself. There was a horrible storm that appeared out of nowhere, and the windows started breaking. Then the trailer was actually picked up by a tornado and landed safely in another state!

– Nancy, 36, Kenosha, WI

Lauri: Recurring tornado dreams are a good indication you are a member of the worrywart club! You dream of tornadoes whenever something is going on that you are worried about ... and it is usually worry over something you really have no control over, just as no one can control a tornado. You are by yourself, which means it is about a personal issue. You are in a trailer, which is the weakest structure you could be in during a tornado. This means you are not feeling very strong. It is significant that the windows broke in your dream—they symbolize your "point of view." Has you perception of something or someone been changed or "shattered"? Has an idea or a hope been broken? Your trailer winds up in another state! Your dream is telling you that you need to move on from this worrisome "state" of mind!

Nancy replies: Yes, I'm a worrywart. I'll keep track of when I have the dreams and what I'm worried about. I always had a feeling that's what it meant, but then this last dream confused me. But you have hit it on the head!
