The Dead Girl

Jeffrey M. Anderson

In that, the performances are exemplary, from the pros (Toni Collette, Marcia Gay Harden, Mary Steenburgen), to up-and-comers (Brittany Murphy, Rose Byrne, Kerry Washington). Murphy is especially impressive as the victim, trying to come up with a ride to visit her daughter on her birthday. The connective tissue between the stories can sometimes seem gimmicky, such as the dramatic re-appearance of the killer. Still, The Dead Girl is a very impressive, passionate achievement worth seeking out.
