DREAM ZONE

Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I dreamed I was a fairy in a tree canopy among other fairies. There were cocoons and caterpillars as well. All the fairy folk and I had to keep jumping or people vanished. I couldn’t jump high enough, and my mom disappeared from below.

–Jackie, 27, Portsmouth, VA

Lauri: The fairy is the mystical side of you that believes in unseen forces in our world and unseen forces within yourself. Are you up against a situation that’s making you feel small? The caterpillars suggest that you are trying to transform your life right now. Jumping often points to tasks or duties—“let me jump on that,” as we say. Are you worried that if you don’t stay on top of things, opportunities may slip away from you? Your mother disappearing may mean you fear your relationship with her is fading away as well. Despite their size, fairies are powerful! Your dream is reminding you that you have the power to handle this. And just as only a few out there believe in fairies, only a few out there believe in themselves. You do believe in yourself, and that is the greatest power of all!

Jackie replies: I think you are pretty dead-on. I just relocated away from my mom, and I worry about her health. And yes, I am trying to make things better., I am fighting a battle with a bulging disc in my back, as well as trying to figure out  my career. I feel very helpless and small, but very capable at the same time.
