Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I dreamt that I was visiting a friend out of town. We went swimming at night. The water was clear, and I could see the bottom. When I stepped in, it was cool and refreshing and felt good. At one point, my friend was hanging onto me and my face was the only part above water. I told her to let go because I couldn’t hold her up without going under. She let go. I then floated on my back looking up at the night sky. It was clear. I had never seen so many stars.

Lauri: When we visit a different town in our dreams it usually means we are dealing with “unfamiliar territory” in waking life or we are doing something that is not within our normal routine or character. The refreshing water in your dream suggests that you feel good about a decision in real life. Like the water, what are you seeing clearly now? You told your friend to let go of you. What have you have recently “let go” of in waking life? Who was weighing you down and holding you back? The clear sky is your vision of your future. The stars are also significant, as they symbolize bright hopes and ideas to reach for. And there are so many! What a great dream!

Laurianne replies: Your interpretation was right on the mark! I recently had to let a very close friend go. I didn’t want to. It broke my heart. When you say, “The refreshing water suggests that you feel good about your decision in real life,” it rings true. I have never done anything like that for “me.”
