Zeppelin is coming!

Spencer Patterson

That’s right, and they’re playing Santa Fe Station’s Chrome Showroom and Boulder Station’s Railhead on back-to-back nights, for just $12 a pop. Can you believe it?

Of course not, because you can read, and you know the difference between the letters D and Z. British music website NME.com was not nearly as perceptive when it spotted “Lez Zeppelin”—the all-female, Manhattan-based tribute band—near the bottom of the list of acts for June’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and reported that the mighty Led Zeppelin had announced its first U.S. tour date since 1977.

Ah, but that’s not all. Within minutes, several major news outlets had picked up the story, including United Press International and the Associated Press, the latter touting “Led Zeppelin Heads Bonnaroo Lineup” for a few glorious hours on February 6 before printing an egg-upon-face correction later that day.

So, just to review: Lez Zeppelin is playing Las Vegas this week. Their four members are women. They play Zeppelin covers. Their shows are reportedly tons of fun. But they are not, nor have they ever been, the actual Led Zeppelin … so far as we know.

Lez Zeppelin. April 4, 8 p.m., $12. Santa Fe Station, 547-5300.
