Dream Zone with Lauri Quinn Loewenberg

I had a very disturbing dream that I am in the basement trying to get upstairs, but someone’s blocking my way. This person gives off a very dark, evil aura. I lunge and grab them from behind and repeatedly smash their face into the wall. When I pull them back, they don’t have a face; it’s just skin! I run upstairs only to find this person on a table. I hear a voice ask, “Are you ready to die?” and I see a knife hovering above them. –Donna, 35, Cleveland, OH

Lauri: The basement suggests this is about something in your waking life that you have pushed down into your mental basement because you don’t want to deal with it. The dark figure blocking your way is a negative force in your life—perhaps from your past—that you would rather not face right now, which is why it had no face in your dream. It blocks you on the stairs because it is something that has been blocking your progress in real life. Beating this person up means you are ready to “tackle” this issue once and for all! This is also why you hear a voice saying, “Are you ready to die?” That is your inner voice acknowledging that you are ready to put an end to this issue. Donna replies: I was molested by a family member twice as a child. I told my parents but never got any help to deal with it; it was swept under the rug. I have a lot of anger and self-esteem issues. I’ve never felt like I’ve belonged anywhere. Thank you for your insight. I appreciate it.
