It’s been a busy year for Gorgon City. The U.K. house duo has released infectious groove after infectious groove, beginning with January’s “Lick Shot.” With each track, Kye Gibbon and Matt Robson-Scott continue to deliver hypnotizing, energetic beats, breathing new life into the electronic scene. July 3 track “Elizabeth Street” is a hat tip to Chicago, the city that established house music back in the early 1980s, and the very neighborhood where the genre was born.

Stalwarts of U.K. house and techno, Gibbon and Robson-Scott still have their finger on the pulse of the deep house scene. Recently, they teamed up with one of the best-known producers in the business, Kaskade, along with rising vocalist Roméo, on “Go Slow.” That May track demonstrates Gorgon City’s crossover appeal—the duo can straddle the underground and the mainstream and find loyalists in both realms.

Gorgon City brings its DJ set to KAOS’ Soak Sundays at the Palms on July 14. The nighttime pool party has played host to a variety of genres since its opening, and a deep house set from Gorgon City should help usher in dramatic poolside vibes.

The duo’s 2012’s debut EP, The Crypt, blended tropical sounds with old-school house, garage, dub and reggae influences. Six years later, August’s Escape LP finds Gorgon City primed for the dancefloor. Packed with ’90s dance club-inspired crowdpleasers like the Duke Dumont collab “Real Life” and the Raphaella-featuring “Kingdom,” that record is threaded with Gorgon City’s signature U.K. house grooves.

The shift seems to have served Gorgon City well. The duo has launched an event series and a radio show, also titled Kingdom, along with record label Realm, a partnership with EMI intended to “act as a platform for our more club-focused tracks and underground sounds.”

If the past few singles are any indication, Gorgon City’s KAOS set should be nothing short of delicious.

Gorgon City July 14, 10 p.m., $20-$25. Soak Sundays at KAOS, 702-329-6200.
